oh definitely! I do this all the time in the summer... much better than standing over a hot stove .. now the bacon... well that's another story....lol..

Yes. The news people do this every now and then to show how hot it is in the DFW area. It isn't fast, but it does fry eventually.

yes, the temperature you need to fry an egg is roughly 45 degrees celsius. The higher you go the faster it would get fried.

yeah, you can do it on the hood of a car's engine too. Take some aluminum foil, lat it on the hood in the sun and after you've driven it, then put the egg on the aluminum foil. It works great.

I live in Houston, and recently got a second degree burn off the windshield of my car. (Fingertip only, not a big deal.) Things left out in the sun here really can get hot enough to cook.

I think you could "Cook" the egg on the side walk, but frying it would need some other implements.
