How tall does catnip have to be in order to use?

i have one catnip plant that is about 1 foot or more tall and i was wondering when i can use it for tea or to making catnip toys? how many leaves can i take without killing it?

you can pinch leaves any time at any age and they are potent. the plant will form 2 new branches from the base of leaves below the pinch. If you pinch off the taller branches you will get a bushier plant. This is a good weed to grow outdoors, thrives in full sun and lots of water. you canpinch off almost ALL the big leaves, and the tiny leaf buds will grow into new branches. My cats love it fresh or dried, just put a plant in front of them or sprinkle some on the kitchen floor to roll in. Tea is soothing to people, but cats first get frisky, then usually nap.

Just has to have leaves on it to be used.

YOu can use it as catnip at any time. As for tea, I'm not sure. I would look it up in a horticulture book. You can pluck the plant, it will come back every year and SPREAD like CRAZY!!!
