How do people study so easily?

I used to be good at studying, but over the years it just started going down hill, i know i need to study and want to in some points but then i get distracted very Very easily. Music plays in my head when i read or i'll drift off easily or just completely stop then go do something else. If its boring i just cant do it, (im guessing thats the main problem) n e advice or tips, or other stories related to this?

No... Dont listen to calm music I have the exacty same problem. Its really a hyperactive thing... like when I read, take the SATS... any thing that takes a long period of time of one solid thought pattern (like studying) I drift.. move, get finiky just out of boredeom I want to move and do something.... You cant listen to calm music or at least I can't because then your mind starts thinking about it... for me when I study I do one subject at a time in my room with complete silence... but I'll move on to another subject in about 30 mins or so (depends on what your studying for and how many subjects) but I break up my studying so that I dont get bored so I have a variety... when you feel your self starting to drift take a break and come back to it when your ready or you wont even be studying usefully. Trust me I've tried to study through drifting and you realize an hour later you haven't learned a thing lol. Hope it helped!

I am sorry to tell you this, but your problem is a lack of self-discipline. When you used to be better at studying, did you have someone who held you accountable (like your mother) and who made you do your homework? If you blame it on the subject matter being boring, you let yourself off the hook. Believe me, there will be plenty of days in your life when you have to do things you either don't like or think are boring. This is true even if you have your dream job.

Find a place to study where there are NO distractions. Well, not a closet, but you need to find a place where there is nothing handy that you might find more interesting that the material you are studying. Then, when you settle down for a study session, why don't you try scheduling your breaks. Make the interval between breaks short enough so that you can go from break to break without losing focus. It might only be 10 minutes. The shorter the interval, the shorter your breaks need to be if you are going to get any studying done, but the point is to set the interval so that you will be successful. Then gradually increase the interval as your concentration improves.

Remember not to make excuses for yourself like saying that the material is boring, and good luck.
