Do the british like americans? (and let's not just talk about Bush) What do the British REALLY think??
THIS IS NOT A PRIMARY FOCUS ON POLITICAL ISSUES. I AM SPEAKING MORE FROM A SOCIALISM STAND POINT.

Obviously we cannot comment on an entire nation however, all of the Americans whom I have met have without fail been very warm, generous, welcoming people who seem genuinely interested in others.
The problem seems to be the country as a whole and it's relationship with the rest of the world. The nation gives a very unpleasant impression, over-valuing itself in an arrogant and small minded way.
It seems that the people who are chosen to represent America on a world stage are very poor choices, who can often make the rest of the country seem stupid, interfering and self-important.

Well, I'm English (I live in England, which is part of Britain). I have met some lovely and interesting Americans, but I have met some really stupid ones too. Fortunately only the lovely ones have been e-mailing me. I believe you can get good and bad in all countries and cultures, I think you must take each person as an individual and not lump everyone all together. (I hope this makes sense, I'm writing it after 11pm).

I like some, but find others stupid and ignorant and I'm English.

I don;t know a lot of Americans. I have to say that I have spoken to many, or seen Qs and As on here from many Americans who appear to want everyone to think they are all stupid ignorant fools. However, I have also spoken to many who appear to be intelligent and nice people.

For some odd reason some British feel they are highly intelligent. It's interesting that some many come to the state to vacation and to live.

My boss is an American and is the best boss I've ever had. We have some differences of opinion, but we laugh our way round them. I have Canadian cousins and they are great too!

I don't think I can make a sweeping statement like 'yes, we like all americans'. Just the same vice - versa. On the whole americans are a good bunch of people, just like the brits. There will always be some we're not keen on in all nationalities. I do seem to see quite a few anti-brit comments on this site from across the pond but that's ok. We're all entitled to our opinion.

We may like the Americans but not their cultural imperialism or their arrogant government

Generally I think the Yanks are OK. I have been to the States a few times and I have always had a good time there and been treated with courtesy at all times.
I think that our two nations will always be inextricably linked to one another and the 'special friendship' we have, that is the envy of the rest of the world, will never be broken.
As with all countries, there are the less desirable elements that let America down, but they should never be allowed to sway people's judgement regarding the greater good.
I love the good humoured banter...it's hilarious.

Oh you Americans are all right by me and you're all invited to my house for dinner! Obviously some aren't as nice as others but thats the same in all countries. The Americans I've met have all been very very nice indeed.

I like them alot...... I've got more PROPER friends over there in the last 7years of having the internet than I've had living the entire 27years of my life here...... in fact I can now safely say I know people serving life sentences over there in the States that treat me nicer than the chicks over here ever had...... if you look at the "Meet me" profiles on HOTorNOT and compare the profiles for the chicks in the States with those listed under "England - North" for instance you'll see the ones from the States are capable of writing properly and actually have some interesting interests.... while looking at the English ones I'm afraid to say some of them seem so thick and lead such sad lives you end up thinking some of them should have been Euthanized at birth when you see things like this in their profile:
"I lyk surfing(cant actually do it bt it sounds gud and i lyk watchin it),tanning me self ;-) I listen to any kinda music rly. Like goin out, clubbin, dancin, gettin drunk :-p ! Anyway clik yeh&i wil talk 2u as soon as poss"
