HELL YES!! Finally someone has some sense! All of the above comments represent the problem. They assume the status quo is neutral, when really the status quo is based on years of racist behavior towards minorities in this country, particularly against African Americans. By assuming the status quo is neutral, of course any law or policy made to benefit minorities will be seen as a "preference". However if we are to be realistic and honest, we will recognize the present as a product of racist historical practices, inherently unequal, and we have to remedy this somehow. It is all in how you frame the debate, and (myself being white) we can't let the white majority fool us.
