Athletic talent, like intelligence, height, and other genetic characteristics, comes in a range. Not all men are better than all women at sports. But elite level men are generally stronger and faster than elite level women.
Look at the last Boston Marathon. The top male finisher ran the race in 2 hours, 7 minutes. The top female finisher ran the race in 2 hours, 23 minutes. The time of 2:23 was better than 99% of the men running the race, and is certainly better than you or I could run a marathon.
However, given the hormones that occur naturally in males, it is likely that activities that require strength, speed, and stamina will be dominated by men at the professional level. This is really the result of the hormones that men have that women don't.
