Why is there sap coming from my bromeliad plants spike (flower)?

I bought and repotted this about a week ago and now the leaves are turning brown, and i notice a clear sap coming out of the spike when i touch it.

sounds like the plant went into what they call transplnt shoke , this is very comon when roots of plant are crowded and then all of a sudden have room to grow , as for the sap coming out when you transplanted the plant there was a little damage that was done even though you may not see it your self the sap is what i call blood from a blant and if it is damaged the sap will come out as to try to heal it self , you can also contact a local nursery that deals in those types of plants theyll be able to give you more answers .
