Paris metro fares and museum entries?

I'll be in Paris at the end of the month for 5 days. What is the best metro ticket to purchase for travel in and around the city daily for 5 days? I'll be there from Thursday through Monday; I've read that weekly passes are only valid Monday through Sunday. And I've also heard about buying museum passes in packages from the metro stations - are these a good buy? Or is using a student ID at each museum a better deal?

The weekly metro pass, the Carte Orange, probably wouldn't be your best bet...It is a great deal...but I think the last day to purchase one for the week is Wednesday.

A carnet of metro tickets is a great deal...cheaper than buying them individually.

The museum pass is a great idea...in fact, I would not go to Paris without buying one. You can get them at any metro ticket booth. However, they recently changed the pass. It is now good for 2, 4 or 6 days. I'd get a 4-day pass and pop into a museum whenever you feel like it.

With the museum pass, you get to waltz to the front of the line at most museums. At Versailles, there is a separate entrance for pass-holders. There is a separate line for pass-holders at the Musee d'Orsay. It just saves a lot of time and hassle. Why spend time waiting in line to purchase a ticket when that time could be spent seeing the wonders of the museum?

get a 5 day museum pass and metro pass....go to this website to get more info http://www.conciergerie.com it has lots of info and ways to buy the passes before going to avoid lines

you can buy a carnet(ten tickets) for 10.80 euros. you can buy them at any metro station. museum passes are a good idea because you can avoid long lines. museum passes can be bought at many lager metro stations and just about any museum. the only place that doesn't accept museum passes is the eiffel tower
