Can you still drink alcohol and smoke if you have Chlamedia? I took my one dose medication 2 days ago.?

Well not drink a lot, but maybe one or two drinks...just want to make sure before I do so...

On Thursday I took AZITHROMYCIN, generic for ZITHROMAX. Wanted to know if it will be okay if I have a couple of drinks/alcohol on Saturday?

Yes, you can drink alcohol or smoke after taking azithromycin. Your sexual contacts need to be treated as well. I always use doxycycline 100mg twice a day for 10-14 days. And drinking is not recommended with doxycycline, as it may make you vomit up the pill. OK, I just looked it up, the way to take azithromycin is to take 1 gram of it all at once. Then you aren't supposed to have sex for 7 days afterwards, apparantly because the azithromycin has a long half life, it stays in your blood for several days, and it may take that long to kill the chlamydia. But, yeah, you can drink. These cures don't always work the first time. Sometimes you have to take another course, or a different antibiotic.
