Dog Offering Me his Butt?

Whenever I sit down on the floor with my male, Border Collie mix dog, he keeps trying to shove his butt in my face. I want to kiss him on the head, and he keeps turning around. Why? What is he trying to tell me in dog language?

It's a dominance thing. The dog is protecting you. At least that's what my trainer told me. I have a healer that will only sit facing away from me. She says that the dog thinks it needs to guard me. I've never been able to brek her of it, but it has gotten better with age.

Asker's Comment:
I do think that it is a dominance thing, although he acts playful when he's doing it -- like he is teasing me about "who's the boss". When I then turned around and offered him my butt, he went playfully nuts -- like the doggy version of laughing. This dog has one whacked sense of humor!
