In my youth, my goal was to become the largest tomato farmer on the East Coast. I nearly succeeded before realizing that I wanted to do something about the global issues of population and food. I founded the Worldwatch Institute where I was president for 26 years and pioneered the concept of environmentally sustainable development. In 2001 I founded the Earth Policy Institute, which is dedicated to providing a plan to build an economy for the earth. The 50 books that I have authored or co-authored have been published in over 40 languages. A recipient of numerous honorary degrees and awards, I was surprised when the Library of Congress requested my personal papers, noting that my work had “strongly affected thinking about problems of world population and resources.” My most recent book is Plan B 2.0: Rescuing a Planet Under Stress and a Civilization in Trouble. Please visit http://www.earthpolicy.org/... to learn more about the eco-economy and what you can do.
